Madras University, established in 1857, is a public university following the model of London University. It was one of the first five institutes to be considered as the University with Potential of Excellence [UPE] by the UGC. NAAC has awarded it an A-grade.

Madras University Admission 2025
University of Madras admission for the year 2025 will open soon for UG and PG courses. Students can download a registration form and fill it out with the correct details. The university conducts entrance examinations for admission to various courses like MBA, Ph.D., etc. Admission to various courses is done through both entrance and merit-based, depending on the course.

- MBA: The student must have passed a bachelor's degree in any subject or equivalent and must qualify for TANCET, conducted by DTE on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
- M.Sc: The candidate should secure 55% marks as the minimum pass percentage in the 10+2 and must have passed B.Sc with the desired subjects from any recognized university.
- PhD: The students have to pass the master's degree in the related field with good marks and need to clear the entrance exam conducted by the university.
