IIM Amritsar was established by MHRD in 2015 as one of the third-generation Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. The Indian Institutes of Management Act of 2017 declared the institute an institute of national importance.

IIM Amritsar has been ranked 64th by the NIRF ranking 2025. Aside from this, the institute received high rankings from other agencies for its management program. MBA is the flagship course of the institute.
